In Bangalore, British Business Group (BBG) has launched its chapter for the sake of providing members with a reliable platform for networking.
This chapter was launched by Sir James Bevan, British High Commissioner to India. It is also part of the BBG National network present in India. At present, the chapters of BBG in India are located in Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad, Goa, Pune and Mumbai. The special feature of membership in the BBG-Bangalore is its members can attend meetings that are conducted at any of the BBG’s present across India.
Sir James, while addressing the industry present on the occasion, said that the Prime Minister of Britain, David Cameron, desires a wider, stronger deeper relationship with India. He emphasized the potential present in the industries of Bangalore at this juncture. He also said that it was the main reason which made the Prime Minister of Britain to choose Bangalore to visit after landing in India. Sir James also said that he is a frequent visitor to Bangalore.
The example quoted by him towards UK and India partnership, in the meeting, is the proposed Bangalore Mumbai Economic Corridor (BMEC) project. In this project, the UK partners with India, and also with the States of Maharashtra and Karnataka and, in the development, design, and delivery of the project. The High Commissioner said that at present, the UK Government is working with the Indian government on a feasibility study.
Sir James also met the Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and expressed interest of the UK in working with India and also Karnataka towards the BMEC project.
