Immigration to Canada

Canada’s Federal Skilled Worker Program also termed as the FSWP, is, as the name indicates a ‘skilled worker program’ for immigration to Canada. It seeks to attract and facilitate the migration of those individuals who are highly skilled in a set or decided occupations list listed by the federal government (this list covers a broad range, but is somewhat limited in number) and includes occupations such as engineering managers, physiotherapists, land surveyors, etc. Thus, inherent to the program are a set of occupations and skills and a points-based list which enables scores to be decided for each individual applicant based on those skills and points that they can garner for those skills. Thus, through this, Immigration to Canada is sought to be made dynamic, economy-oriented, accessible and equitable.

About Canada’s Federal Skilled Worker Program:

The Federal Skilled Worker Program which is a pathway for ‘Canada Immigration’ or ‘Immigration to Canada’ or ‘Canadian immigration’ selects prospective applicants/candidates/ immigrants based on their inherent and demonstrated capability in immigrating successfully to Canada. But, an applicant to this program has to meet/satisfy some eligibility requirements, and only if they meet these eligibility requirements, will the applicants be assessed, based on some selection criteria, which criteria is also called as the ‘points grid’.

Federal skilled worker program points system:

According to this points test, there are a total of 100 points available to applicants. These points are divided based on criteria factors, and if the applicant for Canadian migration crosses a certain mark, he or she is stated to be eligible for Immigration to Canada or Canadian immigration. Thus, points are granted for ‘ability or capability in the official language’ ‘abilities and expertise’, ‘age’, ‘education or educational qualifications ’, ‘total work experience’, ‘whether or not the applicant has employment is Canada readily available for him/her’, and ‘whether or not the applicant can easily or smoothly adapt to the new country, its people and its culture’. The current pass mark is ’67 points’ (out of a possible ‘100 points’).
