Indian students who wish to study in Ireland must obtain an Ireland Student visa to enter the country. Citizens of a country in the European Union, European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland have free movement in other member states and there is no special criterion to be met by the candidate.      

Requirements for students from a non-visa required country:

Students must hold a letter of acceptance from your school or university as you need to show it at immigration at the entry point in Ireland. And, individuals who are residing in Ireland for more than 90 days must register with immigration authorities as soon as you move to Ireland. 

Requirements for students applying for Ireland Student Visa:

Individuals filing application for Ireland Student Visa need to abide by certain conditions such as:

  • A passport valid for minimum six months after the completion of the course
  • Letter of acceptance from an authorized university or college stating that you have been accepted on a full-time course of study 
  • Proof demonstrating that you have paid the entire course fee
  • Proof that you hold sufficient funds to support yourself while studying in Ireland. And, you are required to show to Irish government that either you or your sponsor must hold minimum EUR 7,000, which is an estimated cost of living in Ireland for a student for one academic year
  • Proof of private medical insurance 

How to register in Ireland? 

If you are not an EU/EAA/Swiss national and will be residing in Ireland for more than three months must register at the Garda National Immigration Bureau (GNIB) as soon as they enter Ireland. Applicants will be issued a Certificate of Registration and must hold the following documents:

  • Valid passport
  • Letter from the Registrar's office of your school/university proving that you are a registered student and have paid full course fees
  • Student ID card if applicable 
  • Medical insurance policy 
  • Proof demonstrating adequate funds
