Have them in your memory as you draft your resume; therefore, the interviewer scanning it will recognize that you are a unique person for whom they were relating. Information Compiling List out your individual details, educational qualifications, and extra-curricular actions involving positions held, etc. Make sure the dates are accurate. Leave out the parent’s occupation, interests, hobbies, etc. Sort data under particular titles – Work Experience, Skills, Achievements, Education, Activities. Name together with Contact details Write your full name, email address, postal address, mobile and house numbers. Leave about your parent’s name, marital status, race, sex, birth details, occupation etc. Employment history List all the positions you have held, company names, position titles, dates of the employment, starting with your most recent work. Utilizing bullet points, write the job description, responsibilities held for each position and nature of work. Use keywords like coordinating, prepared, monitored, and responsible for, managed, presented, achieved, analyzed, accomplished, delegated, etc. Highlight your achievements/job responsibilities. Education details Write your top education level first and include grades or percentages like CGPA, papers or courses studied. List actions like position held, societies/clubs and achievements if they are related to the position you are applying. Unless, neglect them. Skills List down your language skills, computer skills involving proficiency in writing and reading, and soft skills. Reference Not exclusively necessary but if you require to specify references, prefer people who identify you in person and can provide a good opinion of you to the possible employer. Remember to provide your reference’s contact particulars. Make sure you notify your referees that they may be contacted by your interviewers so that they can prepare. Give the referees copies of your resume so that they know whom you are and what you did. Miscellaneous

  • Resumes are normally read in just 30 seconds or less, so you have to be small and go straight to the point.
  • Resume has to be a maximum of two pages long. Use 3 pages only if you have long professional experience.
  • Use font size of 12 (Times New Roman font) for a simple read. Use italic or bold fonts exclusive to indicate the important information or segment breaks.
  • Use a valid printer, no stray marks, spots, irregular or blurred words. Use great quality A4 paper, white alone. Do not use gaudy colours like red or pink.
  • Be realistic. Do not lie or stretch your resume. Ensure that you can back up what you deserve.
  • Check and ensure that your resume is free from spelling or grammatical errors. Don't depend on your word processor’s Spell Check function. Ask someone who is responsible to check it for you.
Most importantly, proofread until your resume is perfect.
