Schengen Visa Countries:
The Schengen area comprises the region including 26 European countries. For all purposes pertaining to international travel, it can be considered as a single country having a common/uniform visa policy. This area seeks to facilitate the free movement of information, money, goods and people. 22 of the 28 EU member countries and all of the four EFTA (European Free Trade Association) member states take part or participate or form a part of the Schengen visa area. Out of the 28 EU members, 6 EU members who are not members of the Schengen area, yet, are obliged to be a part of the Schengen area. Ireland and the UK are not yet part of the Schengen area. Some members of the EFTA – Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland –who are not members of the EU also constitute a part of the Schengen visa area.
If it so happens that the applicant for the Schengen visa intends to visit various Schengen countries, the country which will be responsible to issue the pertinent visa for the whole duration of the trip, including to other Schengen visa countries will be determined on the basis of the following criteria: main destination, country related with main purpose of visit, the country with the maximum period of stay, state of first entry, etc.
Schengen Visa Application:
The Schengen visa application can be presented for approval by the applicant in person or through an authorized person at the embassy/consulate/authorized application center of the chosen destination under the applicant’s jurisdiction falls.
If the application is being handed over directly at the Embassy/Consulate General, etc., then the applicable/appropriate fee ought to be paid too.
Schengen Visa Requirements:
The following are some of the Schengen Visa requirements. The Schengen visa application form and process has many requirements, one of the of the primary requirements/prerequisites is that the applicant’s passport with a minimum of two blank pages in it which should have a validity period for a minimum of three months after the duration of intended/expected stay is to be submitted. The passport ought to have been officially issued in the last ten (10) years. Also to be submitted are the photocopies of all the pages of the passport.
